“When you sign below, you understand and agree to the following for your Pet or, on behalf of the owner for a Pet you leave in the care of Doggie Detailing.
Emergencies – In the event of an emergency, know that Doggie Detailing will immediately seek the assistance a professional veterinarian. Depending on the severity of the emergency and/or if the Pet’s clinic is unreachable and/or under the Pet’s clinic’s advice, Doggie Detailing may bring my Pet to Hillcrest Animal Hospital. In all of these circumstances, I agree to pay for all the clinic’s costs incurred, any post treatments (including medication) resulting from the emergency. I expect Doggie Detailing to contact me or my emergency contact as soon as possible but only after my Pet is under the care of a veterinarian. Yes, I understand, these are very rare events.
Matted Coats – A little background on matts first. Matts in coats are especially insidious, they cannot be underestimated the discomfort and damage they cause and the level of care to remedy. Coats with severe matting or even a single but large matt require extra attention. Matts accumulate in a tight knot of fur that continually pull on the skin. They become quite painful, a constant irritant. In extreme cases, can start to tear the skin. It is not uncommon for infections to develops due to the lack of air, moisture entrapment and penetrating dirt. Heavy matting can also trap urine near the pet’s skin allowing mold, fungus or bacteria to grow, producing skin irritations that existed prior to the grooming process. Special note – Matts can be very difficult to remove and to de-matt, is a very laborious activity. At times, it may be worth it to save the coat’s look. However, some Pets find the process very stressful and arduous. In these instances, it may be best to shave the coat. In doing so, the procedure can lead to nicks, cuts or abrasions due to skin growths trapped in the mats. After-effects of matt removal procedures can include itchiness, skin redness, self-inflicted irritations or abrasions and failure of the hair to regrow. In some rare cases, pets may also exhibit brief behavioral changes. I understand that Doggie Detailing always has my pet’s comfort and well-being top-of-mind. To prevent serious injury or undue stress to your Pet, Doggie Detailing may refuse to perform a de-matting process. So I understand that: » If my pet has matts, Doggie Detailing may have to shave the coat, » In cases where it is best to shave the coat to remove the matts, conditions allowing, Doggie Detailing will inform me (email, text, or call) prior to the grooming session, »As described above, shaving matted coats can result in nicks, cuts or abrasion from the tools used in the process, » If my Pet incurs injuries due to matts, for example an ear hematoma, hot spots, clipper irritation, etc., I, the pet owner, will be responsible for all physical care and financial expenses, » It makes sense that matted coats take more time to groom. So, I should expect a surcharge for the extra work and time involved.
Health – I understand grooming can be stressful on my Pet. Doggie Detailing attempts to provide a comfortable environment. So, prior to grooming, whether now and in the future, I must inform Doggie Detailing if my Dog has any conditions that might abnormally elevate their stress levels. I should tell Doggie Detailing if there are any special tips that can help reduce my Pet’s stress too. For everyone’s safety, including fellow guardians of Pets that frequent Doggie Detailing, I must have my Dog up-to-date on all vaccinations prior to every session. Otherwise, I may be asked to do so before my Pet is accepted.
Muzzle Fee – If for any reason the Doggie Detailing staff feel the need to use a muzzle on my dog due to signs of aggressive or questionable behaviour, a muzzle fee will be added to my groom. This is to ensure the safety and comfort level of our staff. A muzzle fee is only added to grooms where the groomers safety is compromised.
Assumption of Risk –
- Yes, I know Doggie Detailing and it’s employees are not veterinarians, and do not have backgrounds in animal medicine and cannot be expected to diagnose or detect illnesses.
- Yes, I know Doggie Detailing is not responsible for unknown preexisting conditions of all types, such as but not limited to moles or cysts. So, on occasion, they may be nicked during the grooming session.
- Yes, I also agree not to hold Doggie Detailing responsible for allergic reactions to grooming products. Pets may have sensitivities with pet care products. I’ll consult with my veterinarian to see if there are allergies and inform Doggie Detailing now and in the future. I will also let Doggie Detailing know if my Pet ever develops a reaction where it is suspected that it may have occurred from the last grooming session.
- Finally, I understand that injuries to my Pet can occur whilst handling or grooming my Pet. I waive any claim from injuries against Doggie Detailing derived from their normal activities. I will also waive all costs from medical or physical problem that may affect my Dog after being groomed by Doggie Detailing unless the injury was a direct result of proven gross negligence.
Photographs – Doggie Detailing may take photos of my Pet for your records, for company advertising (i.e., website, Facebook, etc.). All photos taken become the property of Doggie Detailing.
Satisfaction – let’s make it right, the first time Doggie Detailing promises my full satisfaction on their work. Nothing less will do. So, if I am unhappy for any reason, I should not hesitate and feel completely free to express my concerns. But, I owe it them to do so when I pick-up my Pet. Doggie Detailing will be happy to make any adjustments I deem necessary at that time of the pickup. Or, in certain cases and where we mutually agree, at another grooming session. But I understand that once I take my Pet home, any return visits are treated as a new appointment.
Cancellation/No-Show/Late Policy – This is always a sensitive topic. Doggie Detailing knows that stuff happens and happens to the best of us. So, I agree as a professional courtesy that if I am more then 20 minutes late for my appointment it will have to be rescheduled but that I will still be expected to pay for the services missed. I also agree to give at least 24 hours notice if I need to change my appointment or cancel it. If I fail to do so I will be charged for any missed services. These missed services must be pre-paid prior to rebooking. In other words if I don’t show up for my scheduled appointment I still have to pay for it. This also goes for the appointments cancelled after the 24 hour mark.
So, if you agree, please sign, print and date below.”
